No teacher should be out of school during school hours without taking official leave, says Ministry of Education permanent secretary Anjeela Jokhan.

She said this in a circular sent to divisional education offices, district offices and heads of schools on Sunday.

“All teachers are to report to school as per normal hours unless a medical certificate justifies their absence or when the teacher is given authorised leave,” she said.

“No teacher should be out of school during school hours without taking official leave.

“Heads of schools need to be innovative in planning and executing work for their teachers in the absence of students due to school closure; teachers are encouraged to review current resources and create new creative materials and worksheets.”

Mrs Jokhan said teachers needed to ensure students received the best possible support at school when they returned to school.
