Lautoka Golf Club would be hosting the Long Run (Fiji)-sponsored 2-men stroke Ambrose event over 18 holes at the club’s golf course at Golf Links in Lautoka on Saturday.

The chairman of trustees at LGC Raymond Singh said he was excited with the staging of the maiden event for the club this year.

“We anticipate a strong field,” he said. “The ground crew have been working tirelessly over a month to ensure the course is in good playing conditions for the competition.

“It’s the first tournament for all the financial members of LGC. “We’ve lost a lot of money to upgrade the course and get the greens including the fairways in shape because of the continuous weather disruptions over the past four months. “We’ll be having two more Ambrose events consecutively after the conclusion of this competition.

“LGC is all set to rumble from this Saturday.”

Singh said the field was unlimited to the many hardworking financial members of LGC. He thanked the major sponsors for enabling the event to be held. “I would like to thank Ram Reddy of Long Run (Fiji) for sponsoring the event during these difficult times.”

Singh added that a strong field was expected with the likes of seasoned golfers of LGC James Krishna, Gaffar Ali, Asish Kumar, Abdul Jalal, Pritam Singh, Daven Mudaliar, Bill Gardiner, Wiliki Takiveikata, Tevita Drauniniu, Richard Eyre, Manwal Ajay, Chong Lee and Shalendra Prasad.

The entry fee is a reasonable $20 per entrant and according to Singh; no late entries would be accommodated after the official tee off. Tee-off starts between 12.15-1.15pm for the one-day event with the starters being Surend Pillay and Singh himself.

The competition is expected to conclude by 6pm. Attractive prizes would be presented to the winners by the director of Reddy Dimond Group, Ram Reddy.
